The short version
- Your photos, signatures and other files are processed on your phone. They are never uploaded to us.
- There is no account. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Aptafix is free and shows ads from Google AdMob. Google's ad software collects some device data, described below.
- We don't sell your data, and we don't run analytics or tracking of our own.
Who we are
Aptafix is made by AMSEK RESEARCH LABS LLP ("AMSEK Research", "we", "us"). If you have any question about this policy or your data, email support@amsekresearch.com.
Your photos, signatures and files
Everything Aptafix does to a file (resizing, compressing to a KB limit, framing a face, whitening a background, cleaning up a signature, printing a name and date, and checking the result) happens on your phone. Files are never sent to us or to anyone else by Aptafix. We cannot see them.
When you save or share a finished file, it goes only where you choose to send it, such as your gallery, files or another app.
Location and camera details (EXIF metadata) are removed from every file Aptafix makes, so a photo you upload doesn't reveal where it was taken.
Camera and photo access
Aptafix asks for the camera only when you choose to take a photo, and opens only the photos you pick. It uses them to make the file you asked for and for nothing else. You can turn off either permission at any time in your phone's settings.
My Kit
If you save a photo, signature or thumb impression to My Kit, it is stored on your phone, encrypted (AES-256-GCM) with a key kept in your phone's secure storage. We never receive it. You can delete any item at any time, and uninstalling Aptafix removes My Kit from your phone.
The list of forms
Aptafix comes with a list of forms and their file rules, and it may download an updated list from our server. Like any internet request, this lets our hosting provider (Cloudflare) see your IP address and the technical details every internet request carries. These requests carry nothing about you or your files. We use them only to deliver the list and to keep the service secure, and we don't use them to identify you.
Ads
Aptafix is free because it shows ads. They are served by Google AdMob through the Google Mobile Ads SDK, which is built into the app. To show ads, measure them and prevent fraud, Google's SDK collects the following from your phone:
| Data | Used for |
|---|---|
| Device identifiers, such as the advertising ID | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention |
| App interactions, such as ad views and taps | Advertising, analytics |
| Diagnostics, such as app performance | Analytics, fraud prevention |
| Approximate location, from your IP address | Advertising, fraud prevention |
This data goes to Google, not to us. Google's use of it is covered by How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your ad choices
- Consent. Where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), Google's consent form asks for your choice before any ads are requested. You can change it at any time in the app under Privacy & about → Ad privacy choices.
- iPhone. Your device's advertising identifier is shared only if you allow tracking when your iPhone asks. If you aren't asked, or you choose "Ask App Not to Track", it is not shared.
- Android. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings (Google → Ads, or Privacy → Ads).
Full-screen ads only appear after you have saved a file and tapped Done: never while you work, never on your first visit, and at most twice a day.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent personal data.
- We don't build profiles of you or read the contents of your files.
- We don't currently use analytics or crash-reporting tools of our own. If we add them, we will update this policy and the app store privacy disclosures first.
When you email us
If you write to support, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message, such as a screenshot. We use it only to reply and to fix the problem, and we delete it once it is no longer needed for that.
This website
This website sets no cookies of its own and runs no analytics or ads. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard request data, such as IP addresses, to deliver pages and protect the site.
Children
Aptafix is a tool for people preparing their own applications and is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children.
Where data is processed
We hold no personal data about Aptafix users except support emails. Google and Cloudflare may process the data described above in countries other than yours, under their own safeguards.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, the EU and UK GDPR, or California law), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, or to object to how it is used. Because your files never reach us, the only personal data we may hold is a support email. To use any of these rights, email support@amsekresearch.com. For data collected by Google's ad software, use the ad choices above or Google's own tools. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Aptafix handles data, we will update this page and the effective date above before the change reaches the app. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app.
